The Pilgrim’s Progress.
Gainsborough, H. Mozley, Market-Place, 1805.
12mo. Pp. 332. Publisher’s plain brown half morocco with red title piece. Illustrated with 5 rather crude, full page woodcuts signed “Green.” Except for a slight tear in the margin of the frontispiece and the margin of a single page, not affecting the text, this is a decent copy.
Mozley was one of the principal distributors of “catnachery” in the provinces (Muir, pp. 12-24). This is one of the more ambitious specimens of English provincial printing. Rare.
